Do you want to get more website traffic?
Hello hello,
I was invited to a wedding in my 20s, as many of us are. This particular wedding was at a venue where I'd been before a couple of years earlier. My first visit to this venue was a watershed moment for me: they didn't do any vegan food.
I was so hungry that day. I had absolutely nothing to eat except fruit salad for the dessert. And I didn't drive so I couldn't nip out to a shop either. This was the day I swore that I'd take a pack of food wherever I went in future. Just in case.
So when I was invited to another wedding there, the bride asked me if I'd select the meal for the people who didn't eat meat.
Sure. Options were: fish, cauliflower cheese and another fish dish.
My small food pack went in my bag and I didn't repeat the hunger of the previous wedding.
I've been vegan for 18 years which means I have seen a lot of changes in plant-based businesses and how vegan products are marketed.
I think lots of vegan businesses are missing some huge opportunities in how they market because they are not keeping up with these rapid changes.
We've gone from having to make everything from scratch with beans and lentils to there being so much choice, I'm not sure I could even try it all. It's amazing.
But it's also an important lesson - and one that links into how you get more website traffic.
You see, I don't think the vegan and plant-based marketplace is even crowded yet. It's getting there but it's certainly not at capacity or anywhere near it. Yet, what once worked for businesses with their captive vegan audience can no longer work. We have more choice AND we are no longer the core buyer for these products.
We're the happy bystanders to larger changes in buying and eating habits.
The same is true for most products and services. You are not unique but your messaging needs to be unique AND you need to understand who it is you're selling to.
As part of this, you need to know where you are starting from so that you can get to where you're going.
No matter how jam-packed your particular marketplace is, there are ways to be seen and heard by the people who want to buy your products.
This is why I keep banging on about content audits and SEO. Because these two pieces to the puzzle are so important. AND most people don't bother with them. Which means that if you do, then you'll be one-step ahead of everyone else. That's got to be good, right?
On the podcast this week, I explain the difference between SEO and content audits. And which one you should do. Plus, why you might not need to do an SEO audit.

See you next week!
